When Star Wars came to Brighton!
A long time ago on a beach not so far, far away….it was a typical summer’s day in Britain - slightly damp and windy! But no amount of rain or wind could dampen our mood – Star Wars was coming to Brighton!
Brighton Big Screen
Throughout June and July, Brighton’s Big Screen has been showing a variety of cult classics, new releases and live action sport on the glorious Brighton beach, with views over the Brighton Pier.
We packed our lightsabers and made our way to the open-air beachfront cinema and were ecstatic to see so many Star Wars fans out in force to watch the latest franchise release, Star Wars: The Force Awakens. With our sweets and popcorn ready, we settled down on Brighton’s famous pebble beach and got ready for the screening to begin!
No spoilers allowed!
Without revealing any juicy spoilers, The Force Awakens is the seventh instalment in the series and is set some thirty years after the defeat of the Galactic Empire.
The galaxy now faces a new threat from the evil hands of Kylo Ren and the First Order. When a former Stormtrooper (Finn) crash-lands on a desert planet, he meets Rey whose droid contains a top-secret map on whereabouts of Luke Skywalker. Finn and Rey head off and fight the bad guys and bump into some familiar characters - cue Han Solo, Chewbacca, and General Leia for some classic good vs evil duels as we edge closer to Skywalker!
A little rain wasn’t going to stop us!
As predicted, the heavens opened midway through the film and suddenly we had a rush of fans running for cover - some might say they were quicker than a Jedi Master!
