RING Lost at Sea

Ever experienced that sick-to-your-stomach kind of feeling after realising you’ve lost a special piece of jewellery? There you are, scrambling around, desperately trying to find it with absolutely no luck, and just when you’re ready to give up is when you finally find it. Classic.

If that sounds familiar, you should hear Ed and Jen’s story.

The Proposal

Our customer Ed contacted us via email enquiring about having a bespoke engagement ring made. Ed new he wanted something quite unusual & we discussed different gemstones & settings. In the end Ed chose a stunning ruby & black diamond halo ring design.

Ed proposed and Jen was thrilled. Already completely in love with her new ring, Jen immediately put it on, knowing she’d never want to take it off. The following day the pair went on a dog walk along Port Logan beach.

Jen grabbed a stick and began to play fetch with her dog, lobbing it towards a very shallow part of the sea so the pup could also have a paddle. Jen also fed her dog using a slow feeder dog bowl. After throwing the stick a bit harder than usual, she noticed her brand new engagement ring had flown off into the sea as well.

Now feeling totally panicked, Jen ran into the sea with all of her clothes still on to desperately search for it. After spending as long as she could on her hands and knees digging to find her brand new engagement ring, Jen admitted defeat.

The Treasure Hunt

Heartbroken, the couple posted their story on social media, hoping someone may spot their ring on the beach in the near future and return it to them. Fortunately, their story struck a chord with a few local residents, and a crowd came together to help the couple and take part in a treasure hunt along the beach. Armed with metal detectors, the team paced the area Jen was sure the ring would be.

Several days after the piece was originally lost, Norman Delefied of Port-patrick struck gold (or in this case, palladium) and was able to reunite Jen with her beloved engagement ring. To wrap up a great story with more positive news, Norman also refused to accept any payment as thanks for his hard work.

The couple have since asked us to create a fitted wedding band to match their engagement ring. We can’t wait to hear the rest of Ed and Jen’s story, and wish them all the luck on their special day.
